Final course reflection

Final course reflection
Culture diversity is one of the best courses I had got this semester. I was inspired by the way we studied it and I have a lot of benefits from this course in my life, it changed my thinking way to the people around me and the different cultures. Also, doing my projects alone taught me how to depend on myself.
one of the best classes that I have enjoyed is about different –isms and ethnocentrism because I have now a lot of knowledge of how people treat others that are different from them. I also enjoyed the class of Emirati project because it was the first time for me to interview tourists, and it was interesting because I felt that I was doing something important in the project as a female. The third class that I have enjoyed is the one that taught us how to inhabit with multicultural and also how to deal with different people from different cultures.
It is important to learn about Cultural Diversity to understand the people's behaviors and how to deal and communicate with all people even if they have a lot of differences. Also it teaches us how to fight racism and how to treat people in a good way and respect them no matter what is their nationalities, jobs, colours..etc
I think that the best age for the students to learn about Cultural Diversity is from entering the primary school, because from their first day in school they will be meeting children from different countries, cultures, religions and also there are poor and rich students.
The most interested thing I learnt this course is about racism, I knew now a lot of things; like how people are treating others. For example: how a bad manager is treating his employees, how a housewife is treating her maid, how rich people is treating poor people. Of course there are some people that have good manners and treat each other in a very good way and don't pay attention to the differences between them. I also learned that no matter how, people must respect others and fight racism.

Regarding the harmony day, I want it to be called The UAE Culture day; like everyone from all cultures can participate and the place must be decorated in a way that combine all cultures and traditions. So everyone can do something different to let the people that visit the place learn about different cultures. It is better to have that day in winter so the weather will be good and suitable for everyone to come and visit the place.

In conclusion, I liked this course a lot because it taught me a lot of things about different cultures, and also about my Emirati culture and traditions.

Exercise#10

Blog Exercise 10A: Write a reflection of 50-100 words (#10A) about modern slavery today. What do you think?? Figure out how many slaves work for you. And post on your blog.

Slavery is an old bad thing that happening in our world, I saw the two videos I felt sorry for the slaves in somewhere, they thought that if they will get a number of dollars but after they arrive to this place they get shock that the contract with less salary, there are many places in world to do this thing specifically the rich countries. These hard workers have human rights and the rights should be given to them.

I build my house on www.slaveryfootprint.org and I got the result that 73 slavers work for me.

Blog Exercise 10B:

Add 50-100 words (#10B) to your reflection about

What else has the UAE done to try to ensure human rights for its workers and to stop human trafficking? Why is this important for the (your) government to take this stand??

Our government ensure human rights for the workers, we have the freedom of speech but in a limit, freedom of religion that every person from any religion can do his prayers, we also have women rights, the trafficking is illegal in our country and the government make the best to stop this bad issue.

Giving people specially the workers they re rights is good thing, so its keep our country safe for the citizens and tourists.

Exercise #10c:

Ways to fight discrimination:

By Jackie Robinson:

Collegiate athletics had been haphazardly integrated for decades. At UCLA, for example, Robinson starred in baseball, football, basketball, track, tennis, golf, and swimming .however,Fifty years ago, on April 18, 1946, Jackie Robinson broke organized baseball's color barrier with a characteristic bang, homering and scoring four runs in his historic first game for the Brooklyn Dodgers' top farm team and this anniversary will no doubt unleash a wave of media meditations, since it combines the two national pastimes of the American male intellectual: denouncing racism and waxing nostalgic over the Brooklyn Dodgers.

By Rosa Parks:

1) She was treated with disrespect, when she was told to move because of the loading of more white people it was because they believed her needs less important. This is against human rights because it was not treating her as an equal. At the time blacks everywhere were treated like this, her protest to move set off a chain of evens which begun the Civil Rights Movement.
